IIDA MAC’s Cosmo Couture has become an institution. Hundreds of area designers come to celebrate the collaboration of design firms and their manufacturing partners producing a runway-ready couture garment reflecting a chosen theme – this year was The Smithsonian. You have to marvel at the fact that these design teams spend 4+ months researching, designing and producing sophisticated wearable works of art.
The day began early with dozens of volunteers setting the stage at Cosmo’s new home – The Howard Theater. Many hours of preparation commenced – models got fitted, hairstylists and make-up artists got to work in the twisted underworld of the theater. Just before the models hit the runway, they appear before the judging committee with their design teams to describe the fruits of their labor. Then the party began as the raucous crowd enthusiastically cheered for the models streaking across the stage.
It was a wild, loud and fun-loving evening that had a good cause – proceeds of the event are donated to a beneficiary, and this year was Rebuilding together. Full details here: http://cosmocouture.org/
